I was with a client in conversation about the future of work when they dropped in the concern about the departments/groups they created during the pandemic leading to playing constant catch up. The intent was to create more connection in their large organization, and they did. They also created a silo which had led to leaders in the various departments playing catch up with each other’s decisions and client efforts. Maybe this is happening in your firm too? Think about the benefits of smaller group interaction when using technology to connect. And then, add in some feature that is faster than email or a meeting. Remember departments don’t have to be compartments! Keeping your decision makers connected so everyone feels aligned prevents the compartmentalized approach that is inefficient and duplicates information (which is like playing telephone).
