How to stabilize and center your body
THE SESSIONS
Each week, we’ll spend 40 minutes and devote our attention to the body.
1
The Body
When you are in alignment, your bones, tendons and ligaments carry you. If you fall out of alignment, smaller muscles kick in to do a job they’re not meant to, and thus you invite injury. Let’s take some time and create awareness: how do you sit and stand throughout the day?
What does it feel like to be aligned, and how is your alignment?
2
The Power of the Breath
In controlling your breath, you have the power to influence your nervous system. With that power you can alleviate negative feelings (fear, anxiety, frustration, etc.) and nurture positive emotions. In this session we will practice three types of breathing: water, whiskey and coffee – no beverages needed! In learning to control the breath you can aide in digestion, improve your sleep, reduce stress and more!
3
Balance – Improving Resilience
Balancing is a fundamental aspect of any movement we perform, and something we do each and every day, even if we’re not consciously aware of it. The benefits for improved balance range from a reduced risk of injury, to improving intelligence and even, potentially increasing one’s life span. No matter who you are, there is something for you to gain by working to improve your balance. Let’s stand up and get started right now!
